"Life is too short to wake up in the morning with regrets. So love the people who treat you right, forget about the ones who don't and believe everything happens for a reason. If you get a chance, take it. If it changes your life, let it. Nobody said it'd be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.

Iowa State Fair

Well we ended up going to the Iowa State Fair. We aren't big fairgoers because it's kinda overrated in our opinion. Everything is SO expensive and you leave feeling sick from the greasy food and poor from all the money you just spent. Not to mention being all hot and sweaty too. That being said we decided to go anyways ;) Kayla did have fun seeing the animals. Anytime you see her smile it always makes everything worth it. I took her down the giant slide. I don't think she knew what to think but she did crack a smile when we got up to leave. All in all I guess I would say we had a good time.

Not sure what's going on here...a fashion show maybe?!?!?!

Who wants cotton candy?!?!

Here is the Hawkeyes trophy from last years Orange Bowl win. Kayla even got a Hawkeye tattoo!

All faired out.

Kayla and I are the 3rd from the right.

KEITH URBAN

Keith Urban came to the Iowa State Fair so of course Scott and I got tickets to go see him! Kris Allen (winner of American Idol Season 8) opened up for him. We aren't big Kris Allen fans but he actually did a pretty good job. The boy can sing. As far and Keith Urban...he was awesome as always. (Still looking good too) Keith and Kris sang a duet together at the end and that was really good too. At one point he came up into the grandstands and walked up the steps right past us! If only there weren't 5 people between us, I could have touched him! Maybe next time;)

Water Slide

We managed to play outside for a little bit today. It was crazy hot out so Kayla just played in the water until I was about to melt and then we came back inside. Kayla had lots of fun going down her "water slide" that Scott set up for her. She got grass all over her but she didn't seem to care.

Here's a video of her.

"Grandparents Day"

Great G&G Smith and Grandma Connie came to see us. Kayla had fun having a tea party with great grandpa and reading a book with great grandma. She had to show them her circus cat too. We tell Nelly to get in the stroller and KJ pushes her all around the house. Nelly loves it more than Kayla. They thought it was pretty entertaining. Grandma Connie got her, her very own cell phone! An ELMO cell phone! Pretty soon our whole house is going to be Elmo! Thanks for coming up to see us. Kayla has lots of Grandpas and Grandmas who love her very much, she is one lucky girl :-)

Baby Elmo Song

Tonight when Kayla and I went to get the mail we found a package from Grandma Smith. We opened it up and Kayla was so excited to find a Baby Elmo Song! She kept laughing and smiling:-) Thanks Grandma!

Busy Weekend

Uncle Nathan and Aunt Mandy (and Ty) spent the weekend at our house last weekend. We spent the day boating at Red Rock. Nathan's friend Ryan brought his waverunner to the lake too. That was a lot of fun; however Nathan goes a little too fast for comfort for me. He assured me I wouldn't fall off...and of course I did;-) Kayla was a good girl. She really likes the boat this year. We let her get in the lake for the first time and she loved it. I was holding onto her and she kept telling me she "wanted down mama". Silly girl. We had a nice day spending time with them. Thanks for coming up Uncle Nate and Aunt Mando, hope you had a good time!

Sunday afternoon we went to the zoo with Jerad, Jacque and Ellie. The girls had fun and of course we rode the choo choo before going home:-)
